Best Corporate Event Spaces in Sandton, Midrand & the East Rand

Looking for a venue in Gauteng? We've curated a list of versatile corporate event spaces across Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand — plus tips on what to look for.

Finding the right venue is half the battle of event planning. You need a space that fits your headcount, suits your format, allows external suppliers and is accessible for your team. Here's a practical guide to corporate event spaces in three of Gauteng's most popular zones.

What to look for in a venue

Before we get into locations, here's what to evaluate:

Capacity and layout

Don't just check the venue's stated capacity — visit the space and mentally map your setup. A venue that fits 200 for a cocktail party might only seat 120 for a dinner with a stage and dance floor. If you're bringing in equipment like our Spinning Wheel or Claw Machine, factor in activation footprints.

Supplier access

Some venues have exclusive supplier lists (in-house catering, designated AV companies). Others are fully open and let you bring whoever you want. For maximum flexibility, look for venues with an open-supplier policy.

Power and infrastructure

If you're setting up lighting rigs, sound systems, food trucks and digital activations, you need serious power. Check the venue's available amperage and the number of distribution points. If it's insufficient, make sure generator access is available — our Power & Facilities package fills the gap.

Outdoor options

Gauteng's climate is ideal for outdoor events from September to April. Venues with lawns, gardens, rooftop terraces or open-air areas give you the flexibility to go inside or outside — and a rain contingency plan with structures and marquees.

Sandton

Sandton is the commercial heart of Johannesburg and the default choice for client-facing corporate events.

What to expect

Premium venues with polished finishes, convenient highway access (M1, N1), proximity to hotels for out-of-town guests, and a wide range of restaurant and bar options nearby. Parking can be challenging — look for venues with dedicated parking or nearby parkades.

Best for

Product launches, gala dinners, client appreciation events, conferences and AGMs.

Midrand

Centrally located between Johannesburg and Pretoria, Midrand is increasingly popular for corporate events.

What to expect

More space, lower venue costs than Sandton, easy access from both Joburg and Pretoria via the N1. Many venues in the Midrand corridor offer large open grounds ideal for festival-style setups with marquees, food trucks and outdoor entertainment.

Best for

Team building days, family days, outdoor festivals, large-format year-end functions.

East Rand

Boksburg, Kempton Park, Benoni, Edenvale — the East Rand offers affordable, spacious venues with character.

What to expect

Country estates, game lodges, conference centres and industrial-chic warehouse spaces. The East Rand is often overlooked by Joburg-based planners, but the venues are excellent value and the space is generous.

Best for

Team building, away days, themed events, events where you want outdoor space without the Sandton price tag.
